So the question was posed what are good gifts for 7 year old girls and since I have two of them I decided to go straight to the source. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to stop them at any minute they seemed eager to tell me everything that they desired right down to the color and price (I think they have been shopping for themselves for Christmas). Their list was endless and some of the things that they mentioned I had no idea what they were talking about. Yes sometimes 7 year olds are foreign to me but it was a very fun discussion to have with my girls and even my boy chimed in on what he thought they should say (yes they disagreed with him on every answer he gave). My girls came up with several great ideas and they are as follows;

BARBIE STUFF – Anything Barbie is very cool to have, Barbie has been around so long it’s a classic gift. Girls just love to play with Barbie and all of her accessories. This year one of my daughters is eyeing the Barbie Dream House. There are many different things Barbie that you can choose from.

DOLLS - Dolls of any variety are really cool, my girls and their friends really enjoy all types of dolls and there really are all types out there. One of their favorites is the Groovy Girls line. The Groovy Girls has several different types of dolls and accessories.

DISNEY PRINCESSES – Disney Princesses is another obsession with some 7 year old girls. However I think that it is at this age that they might start growing out of this phase if they are into it. With the Disney Princesses there are 7 to choose from and each has its only little princess identity.

BRATZ PARAPHERNALIA – I am not a fan of anything Bratz especially for children this young but I do see a great deal of girls this age with Bratz stuff. They seem to really enjoy it (I actually ban this type of stuff from my own home).

MAKE UP KITS – Yes it is that age where they enjoy putting on make up. There are actually some cute little makeup kits that are out there and almost every doll company has something to offer. Some of the kits even come with extras like purses and jewelry.

JEWELRY MAKERS – There are many different types of jewelry makers out there from necklaces to bracelets and everything in between. Some of the kits have very small pieces so be careful what type you get. I think that the bigger the bangles or beads the better off you are so that the beads don’t get everywhere.

HAIR STUFF – Hair accessories especially for braids and braiding are really cool with girls. They love playing dress up which goes along with the jewelry and makeup. Clips, ties, ribbons, glitter and dye, there are so many things that can be done with hair. Most of the kits come with instructions for different hairstyles that are fairly easy to do.

BOARD GAMES – Board games are great fun for everyone and there are so many to choose from. My girls enjoy Life Twists and Turns, Apples To Apples and Disney Scene It. There are many other games too all types for all ages that kids will enjoy.

WEBKINZ PETS - Webkinz pets are stuffed animals with a secret code that you can use online at Webkinz World. Webkinz World is a virtual world for your pet where your pet has a room and you can buy them things. Children learn about money (which I wrote about in Webkinz Can Teach Your Children About Money) and taking care of their pets with these cuddly little stuffed animals and their internet world.

BUILD-A-BEAR - Either gift certificates or a trip to store is always a plus. Girls love to check out the latest animals that they have there since they change them and add to them all the time and they love getting new outfits for their “bear” (none of my children actually have bears from there).

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL PARAPHERNALIA – High School Musical 1, 2 and 3 are the latest hits from Disney. Girls love the movies and also the toys from the movie. There are all kids of High School Musical stuff to find from notebooks to clothing. Right now my girls want the dolls from the movie.

DVDs – DVD’s of all kinds are out there, the latest movies or some old classics girls of all ages love to watch DVD’s this includes movies with Barbie, Disney Princesses and Bratz Girls and so many more. Usually this time of year there are many new releases out that kids want to see.

BOOKS – Books are very important at this time since most 7 year olds are in the second grade and reading starts to really improve. I personally like to get books that are a little advanced that I can read to my kids and then books that they can read as well. Most 7 year olds are transitioning from easy reader books to short chapter books.

There are so many different types of toys that a 7 year old girl would like bikes and scooters are really popular around this age as well. It simply depends on what you want to spend on that child and that child’s personal interests. Some children vary slightly in what they like and what levels they are at. Hopefully this has been helpful and given you a few ideas on what to get.
